Investing in a Balanced Year
by Brooke Forry
We get it: you aren’t looking to spend a fortune on a planner. While there are planners that cost more and others that cost less out there, $39 is still an investment and you want to know that it will be worth it before you commit.
So why is the Balance Bound™ Planner worth it?
We’re so glad you asked!
Let’s begin with how functional it is.
While clean and simple in design, it has so much to offer and is just so. darn. FUNCTIONAL. As you can see above, each day’s vertical column is split into our four signature sections — work, self, others, and home — as is the space to note each week’s goals and priorities. The icons that denote each section also serve as checkboxes, keeping the design uncluttered while allowing you the immense satisfaction that comes from checking a task off.
With a place for each evening’s dinner plan, extra space for jotting down notes throughout the day/week, and numbered pages to keep track of any especially important notes (on the index page we’ve included at the front of the planner), careful thought has gone into each and every detail.
This planner is the Goldilocks of planners.
Most planners come in a weekly or daily format. Weekly planners have 7 days fit on a full spread (and space can run a little tight); daily planners have a single day per page (which can feel like too much or a bit wasteful). The Balance Bound™ Planner strikes the perfect balance (no pun intended): one full spread per week for Monday through Friday, and a second spread for Saturday & Sunday, a dedicated area for reminders/lists, and a full page for note-taking, journaling, or whatever best suits you.
On the topic of that full page for notes:
The Balance Bound™ Planner can replace the need for a separate notebook.
On my desk used to sit both my weekly planner and a separate notebook for jotting down notes during meetings, sketches, phone numbers, etc. Since I began using the Balance Bound™ Planner — keeping notes on the dotted grid below each daily column and the full page on each weekend spread — my notebook has remained untouched! It feels amazing to keep all of my tasks, notes, phone numbers, etc. in one place.
Alternately, that full page can be used for journaling, or daily gratitude, or... [fill in the blank]
We love a lot about this format, but the flexibility that lives within the structure is one of our favorite aspects of the Balance Bound™ Planner. We have set up a framework that we know works, while also keeping the different spaces and sections broad enough for you to figure out what works best for you.
And that leads us to the real standout feature:
By dividing your daily tasks into the four signature sections — work, self, others, and home — you can easily see, at-a-glance, how you are spending your time.
You know, in your head, how much time you devote to work, taking care of others, running a household, maintaining relationships, and more… but have you ever really put it down on paper, every single day? Do you regularly evaluate how you are not spending your time — i.e., taking care of yourself — and how to create more time for self-care?
At the heart of the Balance Bound™ Planner is the reminder that you need to take care of yourself amidst taking care of everything and everyone else. If your weekly to-dos are filled with tasks in the work, others, and home sections while the self section remains empty every single day, you know it’s time to set some boundaries to create a bit more time for yourself. As the saying goes, you can’t fill from an empty cup.
That’s not even everything, but we’ll stop there for now. Have we convinced you? We hope so!
Your well-being is certainly worth < $1 per week, and we can’t wait to hear what the planner does for you. If you’re a list kind of person (hello, obviously you’ve found your people here!) you can see all the nitty gritty features in bullet form, then order your 2020 planner now. Thank you for your support!
